The goal is to eradicate extreme poverty and halve the proportion of people living in relative poverty. The proportion of people living in extreme poverty has declined drastically since 1990, but the development we see in the world today is going in the wrong direction: Poor people are getting poorer and rich people are getting richer, and we are also seeing this in countries with high living standards such as Norway.
